REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Only available to multifamily properties.
  2. Contractor must be TECH-enrolled and HEEHRA-trained.
  3. No new construction, retrofits only.
  4. Equipment must be ENERGY STAR® certified.^


Incentives

  • Heat Pump Water Heater (Electric to Electric) = $700
  • In-Unit Heat Pump Water Heater = $1,750
  • Central Heat Pump Water Heater = $1,750 per served unit


Rebates are available for multifamily properties that maintain a certain portion of units to residents whose annual income is between 80% and 150% AMI and residents whose annual income is less than 80% Area Median Income (AMI).   


* At least 66% of residents with income equal to or less than 80% AMI and in a Disadvantaged Community^^ - Rebate not to exceed 100% of qualified project costs*
OR
* At least 50% of residents with income of 80-150% AMI and in a Disadvantaged Community^^ - Rebate not to exceed 50% of qualified product costs*

^ENERGY STAR® certifications do not exist for central heat pump water heaters. Alternate product eligibility criteria will be provided.

^^ Disadvantaged Communities refers to SB 535 Disadvantaged Communities.

 


HEEHRA rebates are funded by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), are overseen by the U.S. Department of Energy and managed by the California Energy Commission. TECH Clean California is administering the first phase of the HEEHRA Program.
