REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be a residential customer of CleanPowerSF.
  • Replace an existing gas or electric resistance water heater with an eligible heat pump water heater (UEF must been 3.3 or higher).
  • Enroll your new water heater in an eligible load shift program such as WatterSaver
  • Comply with the permit requirements from the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection.


Incentives will be a series of $50 monthly bill credits.

  • Make the switch, receive $1,200 - $1,800 in bill credits when you upgrade to a heat pump water heater.
  • Customers on CARE and FERA will receive an extra year of bill credits.
