$1,500 incentive for contractors for each permanent heat pump water heater installed after installing a temporary loaner (gas or electric) water heater.
Projects must meet the following criteria:
- Be installed at an MCE customer residence; installations at non-MCE customers’ homes are not eligible for this incentive
- Have all required permits
- Include only TECH Clean California-approved heat pump water heaters
- Not be an electric-to-electric installation
- Not be new construction
- Install equipment that is an Air-conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI)-matched system
- Install equipment that meets Title 24 Section 6 code minimum standards
- Include installation of a loaner water heater followed by installation of a permanent heat pump water heater and removal of the loaner water heater.
