REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be a TECH-enrolled contractor
  2. Project must be a non-heat pump to heat pump installation
  3. No new construction, retrofits only.
  4. Equipment Requirements:
    • Must be California Energy Commission JA13 compliant
    • Must have an EcoPort as identified by NEEA or AHRI 1430
    • Thermostatic mixing valves must be installed and must conform to ASSE 1017 or have built-in thermostatic mixing valves that conform to UL 60730-1, ASSE 1082, or ASSE 1084
    • Installation must meet or exceed manufacturer ventilation requirements
    • Heat pump water heaters must be programmed to shift energy usage from peak to off-peak hours. This simply means setting the heat pump water heater to follow the customer’s time-of-use rate or an approved default TOU rate via the manufacturer app. Installers must take a screenshot of this setup to upload to the claim form.
    • Low GWP Adder: <150 GWP
